Well, I’ve done it! I have created a website, started a blog, and launched a business all in one to share a little of my passion. Introducing…. La Petite Salle (de Bonne Terre). That is, “The Little Room (of Bonne Terre)” en francais, or “in french” as they say.
La Petite Salle, or “the little room” is a new event space, smaller than the average banquet hall, now available for rent right here in the 5-7-3. It is located in downtown Bonne Terre, and is perfect for small-scale parties, birthday parties, anniversaries, wedding or baby showers, or even family reunions. We feel up to 50 guests can be comfortable served and seated.
The idea for opening this space was inspired by my parents. The two of them might be the best I’ve ever known at throwing an incredible party. The are both incredibly considerate, and when they decide to entertain guests, they leave no detail undone. I can remember my mom getting up before dawn on countless occasions when hosting a family holiday (or maybe she never went to bed the night before). Her menu was flawless, timing was always right on schedule, and the presentation of her dining table belonged on the cover of Bon Appetit Magazine. She did not fly solo in the director’s chair, however. My dad put himself through college waiting tables in a gourmet restaurant and his standards carried over to the guests in his home as well. The two of them taught me how to consider every detail when hosting, and passed on their passion of entertaining to me.
Last season my dad set forth to tear up old flooring in an empty store-front he owns adjacent to his office, as he is the ultimate DIY-er. He discovered that the dingy carpet and subfloor was covering some original hardwood, and I would bet it took him a matter of mere moments to divert the original plan of choosing new laminate colors to summoning his inner-Chip Gaines. Within in couple of weeks he, with the help of his 10-year-old-grandson, had stripped away the old grime to reveal and restore gorgeous, original hardwood floors. It really was the floors, I think, that inspired the whole idea of the space being a perfect venue to host a quaint family party. The final coat of varnish was dried just in time for Thanksgiving 2018.
The inaugural spread of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yams, casseroles, pies, cakes, and all the festive fixings proved that the little room was just too perfect, and we just have to share. We came up with a cute little name, en francais, La Petite Salle. Why “in french”? Alors pourquoi pas?…. Well, why not? La Petite Salle is open. Please, be our guest and we well help you host yours.
